30 Jun PROJECT: Whisky Business
Real talk – 20 years is a darn long time to be doing anything, especially the same job. Loyalty like that deserves a pretty special reward, which is what BMD trusted the Colour Chiefs team, in partnership with the awesome Daniel Richards from Kit Kreative, to create. BMD is an Australia-wide group of companies that are all about engineering design, construction and land development for clients and partners in the urban development, transport infrastructure and resources and energy sectors. This cool company has a little thing called the BMD 20 Year Club, which by now you’ve probably guessed is a nice slice of recognition to honour its long-serving employees.
So, how does Colour Chiefs come in? Last year, the gang was tasked with creating a personalised gift for members of the BMD 20 Year Club – our team here turned out some stunning gift boxes with beer glasses and champagne flutes. BMD was obviously stoked with the results, returning this year for another round of custom creations. This year it was all about whisky, with a two-fold project initiated to include a gift for both new inductees and existing members of the club. Newbies got a gift box with a bottle of Glenmorangie Whisky, a Nachtmann decanter, two Nachtmann whisky glasses and one laser etched pen. Existing members received a gift box of two Nachtmann whisky glasses – so fancy!
It’s all in the details and a lot of love went into this project. Each personalised gift was laser cut out of 3mm MDF and hand-wrapped in black book binding material and direct printed with white ink. The recipient’s name was laser cut out of 1.6mm TroLase Metallic Gold. Inside the box, laser etched foam created the pattern and was then cut to shape to hold all of the items. The gift box with the two whisky glasses was direct printed using four colour black KW Doggett’s 300gsm Keaykolour Jet Black, scored and cut to shape. As you can see, the results are seriously swish.
